The sad truth is that Assad, Saddam and Gaddaffi are going to go down in history as the last secular and "moderate" leaders their countries ever had. And considering how nasty they could be that says a lot about who the west has helped replace them with.

Maybe I'm being a bit over-simplistic but the more shit I see about the Middle-East the more I think Saddam Husein had it right when it comes to dealing with these death-cults. Nothing short of another psychotic despot dictator is ever going to bring the Middle East under control.

Don't wanna drag this into another Syria thread (although thats now probably unavoidable) but incidentally, that's an FSA flag. They're supposedly the "moderates" the west is supporting. You know, the moderates who do things like suicide bomb and engage in ethno-religious/sectarian ethnic cleansing for banter.
